Welcome to Amber Wood Photography. My name is
Rita Wood and I am the principal photographer for Amber Wood Photography, a photographic company I set up in 1993 specialising in beautiful wedding, baby, family and general portraiture. I have studied photography in several academic institutions, starting with Craven College in Skipton, North Yorkshire, Kitson College in Leeds, and the Arts Institute of Bournemouth. I have also worked for several years with one
of Yorkshire’s finest wedding photographers, Andrea Barrett.
I am a qualified member of the Master Photographers’s Association and the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers. I have won a number of awards for Wedding Photography, Environmental Portrait Photography, and
Under Fives Photography. However, my motivation is not the achievement of professional awards, although these are a great accolade in themselves, but the joy that my clients derive from seeing fabulous images of themselves and their loved ones.
My style is a mixture of classical, contemporary and reportage photography and I aim to make the whole experience as relaxed and enjoyable possible.
Whenever possible I shoot weddings with a second photographer, usually my daughter Hannah, who is a talented and experienced photographer in her own right. Together we aim to achieve the perfect combination of relaxed reportage and beautiful classical contemporary photography. Hannah has been assisting me since I set up the business, when she was only 8 years old! In those days she was just handing me films and watching what I was doing with the usual fascination little girls have for weddings. A few years later I put a camera in her hand, and even with little technical training she was soon taking lovely images much appreciated by my clients. Hannah has also studied at the Arts Institute of Bournemouth, and has a National Diploma in Photography. She is currently studying at Falmouth College of Arts.
